A mestizo (unisex) or (male) or a mestiza (female) is a mixed person of European (usually Spanish) and Amerindian ancestry which is the result of the Spanish arrival and
colonization of the Americas or a child of a Spanish parent and a Amerindian parent.
Not every mestizo person is the same. Some have more European than Amerindian or some have more Amerindian than European or in the middle. The
first image is a pure Amerindian not a mestizo and
the second photo is a mestizo that has mostly Amerindian. This is known by another name call cholo, at this stage a person have the option to choose to be identify as the Amerindian category or the mestizo category.
The third photo is a mestizo that haves a very close balance of Amerindian and European
the fourth photo is a mestizo (or a castizo) who haves mostly European and a little bit of Amerindian ancestry. A person who formerly would have been deemed a castizo would today simply identify as mestizo or European, in this system a castizo haves a choose to be identify as a European or a mestizo but they will have to look like a pure European to be consider part of the European category regardless if they have more European ancestry than Amerindian but at the same time lacking the look of a pure European.
The last photo is a Spaniard which is not a mestizo.
If you have any origins in countries where the majority racial group of that country is mestizo then you can go based on that and you can go based on records or your looks or an ancestry DNA test.
Here is the following list of countries where mestizo is the majority race.
These are other countries where mestizos are also native to but they are the minority of the following countries.
Basically it’s the same concept of a Mestizo but the difference is that Métis is a mixture of a Amerindian with other European races that is usually not Spanish. Over the years this kind of mixture became an ethnic group of Canada.
Some Métis also have different degrees of appearance as well some look more native or in the middle or looking like a pure European.
Métis in CanadaA Caboclo is also the same concept of a Mestizo and a Métis but the difference is that Caboclo is a person who is mixed with Amerindian Brazilian and European it is a specific type of mestiço which now days it is a part of an multi ethnic group call Pardo in Brazil.
